3.6 & 3.7: First weekend of being THREE

3.6

This was the first (and last) weekend in a while we didn't have something planned.  So we spent Saturday morning running errands.  We ran to the mall to get a few things.  And of course in the middle of the mall, in an area that really couldn't be avoided they had huge trampolines set up!  Peyton saw them and was immediately sucked in!  We watched for a few minutes and then asked him if he wanted to try.  He, to our surprise, said no!  So we went and did some more shopping.  When we walked past again he said he wanted to try!  So we forked over $10 (lucky for us, I had Peyton's birthday money in my purse:)), he got strapped in, and bounced higher than he's ever bounced before!  It was so fun to see him giggling and having such a great time.

3.7

Sunday we did something that Peyton has been wanting to do again for more than a year.  We took him bowling at a real bowling alley (not just in our basement with a basketball and cups!).  We took him for the first time about a year ago while visiting Auntie Lorrie and Uncle Tyler in IL.  Ever since it's been one of his favorite activities (like I said, in the basement with balls and cups)  When we told him where we were going he was so excited!  And he was so good!  He knew when it was his turn.  He would go pick up his pink, 8lb ball, carry it (all by himself) to the little ramp thingy and give it a push!  He'd be so excited if he'd get any pines down and be so disappointed if he missed.  It was so fun to see his different reaction to each roll, whether it was his turn or not.

3.4 & 3.5: Garbage Trucks & Children's Museum

3.4

We had to make a special trip to school today.  This month they have been talking about community works/helpers.  They have had many different visitors come in and tell about what they do.  Today was the day Peyton had been waiting for all month.  The garbage man was coming!  Peyton loves to watch the garbage truck "eat" the garbage every week.  So to be able to see one up close, he was pretty excited :)
"Hey Peyton, what do garbage trucks say?"
"Num, num num!  Thanks for the garbage!"
Later we met Jenn for lunch at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Our waiter figured out that it had been Peyton's birthday earlier in the week so he brought him free dessert (score!).  The ice cream was hard as a rock, so I tried cutting it up.  The knife got stuck and turned into a ice cream lollipop :)  Thanks Auntie Jenn for meeting us for lunch and the awesome Chow-Pow book!

3.5

Today was another day full of adventure!  We went to the Madison Children's Museum with a friend from school.  It was our first time checking it out and we will go back!  Peyton had fun playing, climbing, and exploring.
Painting the window with Sam

Climbing in the huge play structure

Trying to feed the chickens

Random picture for today is of a pretty typical friday night.  We usually go to dinner with our good friends Max and Jenny (two of Peyton's favorite people).  Tonight, Max came over to our house instead to play with Peyton.  They have so much fun playing together :)

3.3-Lefty

Yet another rainy (and snowy) day today.  So, we spent some time coloring.  It's fun to see how good Peyton is getting with coloring and writing.  It's weird to see that he's a lefty!  When he started school in September he would switch hands back and forth when coloring.  But just in the past month or so, I don't think I've seen him use his right hand at all.  I think it's kinda cool.  We always suspected that he might be a lefty.  He has always been stronger with his left... mainly when it comes to sporting activities.  But I think now, he's pretty set in his ways with it.  It makes things interesting though.  Today when we were coloring together I had to move to his right side because we kept bumping hands.  Helping him write is difficult.  Luckily people don't expect a 3 year olds writing to look nice :)  Who knows, maybe I'll be come ambidextrous :)

On a different note, Peyton had his 3 year check up today.  It's always fun for me to go to these appointments.  One reason is because our doctor is really nice and fun to talk to.  Another reason is I (like I'm sure most parents) like to see how Peyton is growing.  And surprise, surprise, Peyton is tall and skinny!  (Wonder were he gets that from... His dad who's 6'6" maybe??!)  I already have trouble finding him pants... Not looking forward to that when they stop putting the adjustable elastic in jeans.  But he's staying on his growth curve and is a pretty healthy little guy.  It's still hard for me to believe he's 3 and not a little baby anymore.  (Don't call him a baby... He is a big boy.  Just ask.)

3.1 & 3.2

3.1

To start with, yesterday March 21, 2011 was Peyton's 3rd birthday.  It was a pretty fun day.  School in the morning (where Peyton got his birthday crown and brought yummy rice krispy treats... although he says they were too sticky).

Followed by a fun afternoon of blowing bubbles and playing in the sand box at home.  With the exception of his actual birth day (when there was a blizzard!), Peyton's birthdays have been nice spring days.  So it's nice to be able to get out and enjoy the fresh air.

For a birthday dinner, we had dinner at Red Robin with some good friends.  All in all, I think Peyton had a wonderful birthday!

3.2

So far, being 3 isn't much different that being 2.  The biggest difference is Peyton no longer gets his paci for sleeping.  Last night the "Paci Fairy" came and took all the paci's Peyton had.  And then she left him a surprise in their place.  It was (and will be) a hard transition, but Peyton is doing pretty well without.  Part of his surprise was pancakes for breakfast... Not just regular, but Mickey Mouse pancakes!  (That was the bribe that worked getting him to go to sleep last night!)
Today was a rainy day.  So we just hung out reading new books Peyton got for his birthday and playing basketball.

Hello!

Well, I'm not quite sure what I'm getting myself into here.  I'm a new to this whole blogging thing, but I thought it would be a fun way to document what Peyton's life is like as a three year old.  My goal is to take pictures and write something about every day of Peyton's life for the next 365.  Now, I'll be the first to admit that I will not be posting every day.  But my hope is that when I do post, I have something from every day.  So sit back and enjoy the crazy ride of a 3 year old!
