Holidays

The end of the year is a busy time for everyone.  The holidays are even more fun with a 3 year old!  For Halloween this year Peyton was the cutest little lion!  Grandma Sheryl made his costume and it was the best!  We went trick or treating with Peyton R and Samantha (and their families) in Waunakee.  Oh my, did the kids get a ton of candy!

We had a nice Thanksgiving dinner at Nana & Papa's house.  Peyton helped make rolls and pies.  He's quite the little chef :)  Peyton loved eating turkey!

The Christmas season started right after Thanksgiving.  We have found a great little tree farm where we can go tree hunting and cut down our own Christmas tree.  Peyton had so much fun running from tree to tree trying to find the perfect one.  And he did!  Daddy cut it down and Peyton helped him haul it to the car.

And of course decorating it is the best part!!  Peyton did most of this all by himself :)

Unfortunately Peyton was pretty sick over Christmas.  He had a fever and a horrible cold from about Christmas Eve until New Year's Eve.  It may have slowed him down a little but didn't stop him from having a great Christmas and making a haul!!

Day after Christmas morning with Jake & Jamie at Nana and Papa's house

Uncle Jake got Peyton a "pitar" (aka guitar)

Santa came to Nana & Papa's house!

Nana, Papa, Jake and Jamie came to our house for New Years.  We were all going to the Packers game on New Years day.  (Peyton didn't get to go.... this time).  We had a great time ringing in the New Year (before Peyton went to bed).  Peyton was good at throwing streamers and blowing horns :)

We are excited to see what 2012 will bring!  Happy New Year!!

First Snow

Well, it happened!  It snowed!  I guess winter is here.  And Peyton couldn't be more excited!!  After school yesterday Peyton and Daddy came home and built their first snowman of the season.

Peyton's all time favorite winter activity is eating snow!  He has been talking about it since the snow melted last spring.  "Mom, when is it going to snow so I can eat it?!"

He spent all of the outside time at school today making snowball and eating them.  I had a nice little chat with all the kids about how we only eat the clean WHITE snow and never the YELLOW snow :)  They thought that was pretty funny when I told them what yellow snow meant :P

Joel's pretty excited for all the winter time activities he wants to try with Peyton this year.  Apparently we are going to go down hill skiing, ice skating and if cousin Tavis will help, snowboarding!  Here's hoping we make it though the winter in one piece (mainly for Joel!).

Slumber Party

I'm very sad about the fact that I've been slacking on this blog.  We've been pretty busy with finishing up summer and starting school: Peyton's 2nd year and my first year (teaching) at Peace Preschool.  But we have managed to have some fun.  This past weekend Peyton had his first friend sleep over :)
Peyton and Samantha thought it was so cool that they got to sleep on the floor!  (Peyton didn't last long on the floor).  The next morning they confessed that they were talking and telling stories when they were suppose to be sleeping :)  I love it!

The last few months...

We're back!  I am so sad that I slacked over the past few months and didn't get my daily/weekly posts done.  For a while I was doing really well, having a picture of every day.  Then we got into the routine of summer.  I figured we only needed so many pictures from the pool or park :)
So here's a summary of May, June and July...

May:

May started out with a visit from Nana and Papa for Mother's day.  We all had a great time playing until Peyton came down with his first ear infection :(  But we still managed to have Grandma Sheryl over for a nice Mother's Day dinner.

The end of May brought the end of the school year.  It was fun for me because I got to sub for the last 2 weeks.  The kids are great and I'm so excited to be their "real" teacher this coming fall!

June:
The beginning of June brought a trip down to IL to meet Baby Bryce and see Peyton's Godparents Tyler & Lorrie.  We had a fun time just hanging out and playing.  We found this really fun bouncy house place too.  Peyton had a blast there!

Ah, he's crying!  What do I do??!

We spent Father's Day weekend in Hudson.  Luke, Sarah & Cru (our cousins) were in Wisconsin from California for the Dash for Dads 5k.  Peyton and Cru had so much fun together!  We hope to see them again soon... maybe we'll come to Cali :)
Uncle Dave took Peyton fishing.

July:
We were back in Hudson for 4th of July weekend.  Jake and Jamie were home for the weekend too.  We watched Jake and his friends play Matilla Ball (2-on-2 baseball that they've been playing for years!), participated in a fishing contest and did fireworks.  It was a great start to July.

Later in July we went to Chris and Aleisha's cottage.  We spent the entire weekend on the water and it was wonderful!  We skied, tubed (tried), and swam.  Thanks Chris and Aleisha for a fun time!

S'mores :)

That pretty much sums up our summer so far.  We've had lots of fun and there's still more to come :)

Back at it!

3.35-3.41

Peace Lutheran Preschool Class
We spent this week getting back in the swing of being home.  We dove right in Monday morning with a little field trip at school.  We took the class (Peyton and his girls:)) on a walk around the neighborhood looking for the colors of spring.  Miss Becky & Miss Maggie did a great job keeping the kids engaged while enjoying the sights of spring.

And of course they had to roll down the hill!

The middle of the week was a little slow.  However, I found this blog helps us think of fun ways to fill our time.  We need to have something fun to share :)  Unfortunately we didn't necessarily find a lot of fun things to do this week.  Pretty boring, but still fun pictures :)

Since moving into his big bed, Peyton enjoys playing (mostly jumping) on his bed.  It's also a good place to just hang out and read.

For his birthday Nana & Papa got him Mickey Mouse Yahtzee!  This was a game I remember playing and loving when I was little.  And Peyton does too!  His favorite is when he gets five of a kind and can yell YAHTZEE!

This week we've been working on thank you's for Peyton's birthday (yeah yeah... only a month after the fact).  Peyton is getting very good at writing his name!  He can do the P, E, T, and O really well all by himself.  He's getting better at the Y and still asks for help with the N.  Not gonna lie, pretty proud of this one!

Not sure what the deal is with the Mickey ears...
Friday brought the start of garage sale season.  Peyton loves to go to garage sales.  And he made his first purchase today.  A "Chow-Pow" (CARS, Lightning McQueen) placemat for 10 cents.  As you can see he was pretty excited about it!
Friday night we had a Tex-Mex night with some friends.  Peyton was such a cute little cowboy.  He walked around the house saying "Howdy Cow Poke"  :)

Even though the weekend was a chilly one, we managed to get lots of time outside.  Saturday we went to Max & Jenny's house for our first bonfire of the summer.  Peyton also had his first attempt at playing tennis.  It was so nice to run and play and just sit outside.

Peyton was outside long enough on Sunday to draw a rainbow and mow the grass.  But then he decided it was too cold.  We had to come inside and have hot chocolate... On May 1st!
